Through music, life is better for everyone, particularly for children. For me education in the arts is the basis for any civilized society.

Every child is like a flower, waiting a bit of water to have it bloom and expand. If they don't have that, they turn to violence, they turn to anger, it's expressed in much of popular music today. There is a reason for their anger; they feel left out.

There is something terribly, horribly narrow-minded, unknowing, belittling, in the kind of approach we see today!

I feel, more passionately than anything else, that education is the primeval force that make us different from the animals; and if we don't recognize that necessity, the necessity of knowledge, the respect for beauty, the admiration of creativity, then we are indeed no better than the animals!
